We've entered a new era of publishing. Now more than ever, writers have the tools to leave behind traditional or legacy publishing and strike out on their own. Other writers, new to the publishing industry, can forego the long waits on query letters and submissions and take their writing careers into their own hands. Now is a time when writers can take control of their careers and write the kind of books they want without waiting for approval from some committee. It's an exciting time. However, some writers--those that have just heard rumors about the new world of publishing--may not know much about formatting their own manuscripts, creating their own book covers, or formatting for eBooks. Many of the writers going this new movement have taken on the book preparation process themselves. They spend the time to learn photo editing, typesetting, and the rest.
